Questions & Answers

How much does the Connect in Gippsland program cost?

The program is completely free. You don’t need to pay anything or use any NDIS funding.

Can I be in the program if I don’t have a NDIS plan?

Yes, you can. You don’t need to have any funding or NDIS supports to be in the program.

Do I need to prove my disability or that I am a carer?

No, you don’t need to prove you have any disability or the person you are caring for has a disability. If you identify as a person with living with a disability, or a carer of a person with a disability, you can join the program

Can I bring a support person with me when I meet with a Connector?

Yes, you can bring a support person with you. This person can be a support worker, family member or someone you trust.

Where will I meet with a Connector?

We can meet in person at one of our offices, in the community, or online. It is up to you - we can be flexible.

What do I need to bring when I meet with a Connector?

You don’t need to bring anything, but you are welcome to bring anything that makes you feel safe and happy during the program. We can provide fidget toys, colouring supplies and can talk with you about other things that will help make you comfortable.

Do I have to be a client of Gippsland Centre Against Sexual Assault?

Coordinators manage the running of the program. Connectors meet with people and work beside them to make plans and to support connections. Both Coordinators and Connectors can work together with you. Our Coordinators and Connectors have experience of disability and/or caring for a person with a disability.

How long will I be part of the program?

It depends on what you need. You might be part of the program for a short time or a longer time (up to 12 weeks). We will work with you to decide how often we meet to work on your plan or how often we check in with you.

Do I have to come to regular appointments?

You do not have to come to regular appointments – we can be flexible.

What if I need more support after 12 weeks?

You can talk to us about it. We will try to connect you to the extra support you need.

What if I no longer need support?

You just need to let us know. You can leave the Connect in Gippsland Program any time.
